This is my favourite granola. In Germany, a shop called Rossmann, sellsÂ organic chocolate muesli. I used to eat that a lot, when I lived in Germany.
It’s an easy recipe and it can be made zero waste, even without bulk shops. We can buy oats and cocoa powder in cardboard boxes, Maple syrup and coconut oil in glass jars/bottles.
1cup maple syrup
1cup coconut oil, melted
1/2cup cocoa powder
1/4-1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
What you need to do:
Melt the coconut oil over low heat, mix all ingredients, except for chocolate chips.
Spread on a baking tray and bake at 150 c for about 45 min.
I stirred the granola a few times, while it was baking in the oven.
After 45min check if it’s crunchy.
If crunchy, turn the oven off and leave granola to cool down, with open oven door, otherwise cook for another 5min and then let it cool down.
Once the granola is nearly cool, mix in the chocolate chips (we don’t want them melted)
When the granola is completely cold, transfer into an airtight jar.
Serve with cold milk or yogurt or just eat it on its own.
I would end up with one bag of plastic waste a week, ifÂ I would buy this granola in a shop. I make it from bulk ingredientsÂ and produce no waste plastic waste at all.
